BXN — A District in Motion

From transit zone to testing ground.

BXN is a district in transformation: layered, complex, and full of potential.
Once marked by contrasts and fragmentation, it’s now being reshaped through reuse, resilience, and collaboration.

In the years ahead, thousands of new homes will be added, making BXN one of Brussels’ fastest-evolving neighborhoods.
But this isn’t a blank slate.
BXN has a strong identity and it’s evolving from the inside out, through the people who live, work, and build here.

BXN is a territory bridging three municipalities: Schaerbeek, Saint-Josse-ten-Noode, and Brussels-City.
Spanning from Place Rogier to Parc de la Senne, from Rue de Brabant to Tour & Taxis, the district brings together the Brussels North Station, office towers, residential zones and green spaces like Parc Maximilien and Parc Gaucheret.

Our Vision & Mission

BXN is becoming a district where difference is a strength.
Where old and new, planned and improvised, can meet.
Where green space grows between towers, and where people stay, not just pass through.

BXN will operate as a living laboratory.
Over the next decade, we will test, learn and adapt—using temporary interventions as tools for permanent change.

This means:
Opening up space for new uses, new ideas and new people.
Supporting grassroots and professional initiatives side by side.
Turning underused sites into active places.
Making room for mistakes, feedback, and iteration.
Building trust through visibility, not just plans.

No single approach will fix everything.
But step by step, site by site, change is happening.
BXN is not about perfection. It’s about process.
So come see what’s growing and come build with us.

Partners

BXN is not a brand or a campaign. It’s a shared effort.
From day one, BXN has been built through collaboration.

BXN began as an initiative of Up4North, a non-profit association of real estate stakeholders active in the Brussels North district. As thousands of new homes are added in the coming years, Up4North recognized that urban quality goes beyond buildings.
A safer, greener and more connected district requires long-term investment in public space, social cohesion, and local partnerships. Their role is not just to invest but to act as a catalyst: encouraging others to participate, support, and take ownership of this evolving district.

BXN is a public-private collaboration, shaped by constant dialogue between municipalities (Schaerbeek, Saint-Josse-ten-Noode, and City of Brussels), public authorities, local organizations, cultural actors, architects, urbanists, and an expanding network of residents, entrepreneurs, and creatives.

What unites them is a shared belief in place-based transformation: working from what’s already here, listening before acting, and building a district that evolves through real collaboration.
